Answering Strategies:
1. Practice elimination method.
2. Choose answers that are general or contains all other options.
3. Never choose answers with absolute words like only, maybe and etc.
4. Read the questions twice, if incase you don't understand the question, try translating it in "tagalog".
5. Answers ahould always be patient focused not on the nurse.
6. Look for similar words in stem question and the answers.
7. Identify if the question is negative, such as except, but one, and not. Encircle these words so as not to make a mistake in answering
8. Consider using the Nursing process when question is about prioritizing nursing interventions.
9. Always think of the patient's SAFETY.
10. Use Maslow's hierarchy of needs when question is about establishing priorities for the patient.
11. On desperate moments, choose the longest answer.
12. Best of all, Pray and ask for "Divine Intervention."
Example:
The objectives of community health nursing includes:
a. disability prevention only
b. health promotion and disease prevention only
c. health promotion, disease prevention, early diagnosis, treatment, disability prevention and rehabilitation
d. early diagnosis, prompt and appropriate treatment only
Answer is C. Note that answer a, b and d has absolute word only which makes it wrong. Correct answer C is general which contains all three other answers and is the longest among the answers.
Example:
Community Health nursing is population focused. This means that:
a. services are focused only to the high risk members of the community
b. unit of care is the individual patient or family
c. Services provided are ecologically oriented
d. services are directed to the health of all population groups.
Answer is D. Notice that the word population is also in the stem question. Answer D also includes answer b which makes it a general answer. And answer a has the word only.
